Today, on 24 February 2016, Ukrtelecom has fully re-established local, national and international long-distance communications and Internet access in Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast.
Now 1,500 users of the broadband Internet and 3,000 fixed-line telephony subscribers can enjoy the services. In the current situation, it is not possible to restore communications for 125 users in Khimik residential area, which is close to the contact line.
Ukrtelecom’s optical fiber cables were damaged by hostilities on 27 July 2014. Despite a continuing unstable situation in the town, the company has managed to lay a new fiber optic line of 9 km long to the nearest main and repair all damages.
“Fixed telephony is an important way to stay connected with friends and families, as well as with emergency services throughout Ukraine. Our company is realising the social value of the fixed-line communications in the conflict area and will keep on providing telecom services to our customers to the fullest extent possible, taking advantage of broad opportunities of the company’s infrastructure. In particular, Ukrtelecom’s staff re-established connections in 289 localities in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts at the time of fighting,” said Mykhailo Shuranov, Ukrtelecom’s Corporate Communications Director.
Moreover, the company launched a Customer Support Centre in Avdiivka on 15 February 2016.
Ukrtelecom keeps on monitoring the state of telecoms connections across Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and update the information on the interactive map at its website.
