Despite a tense economic situation, AKHZ continues to rebuild the town. The company is completing repairs in nine high-rise buildings to house almost 2,000 Avdiivka residents.
The repairs are underway in houses No.14, 15, 20, 22, 25 in block 9, No. 15 on Gagarina Street, No.13 on Molodizhna Street, No.5 on Korolyova Street and No.22 on MPS.
The builders have already reconstructed external walls, load-bearing walls, facades, and installed floor and ceiling slabs, room dividers and windows.
A direct shell hit destroyed the front wall between the second and third floor of the building on Gagarina Street and the blast blew out windows. There’s almost nothing left to remind about the tragedy and the residents can call this building home again – warm, sweet and cosy.
“I have lived in this flat for more than 50 years. Here I have spent my childhood and youth and given birth to my children. When a shell landed on the flat, I was moved to tears. It is hard to realize that your parents’ house has been ruined. No one can afford reconstruction at their own expense,” said Tatiana Severina, a tenant of the damaged flat. “When the plant began to rebuild the town, I knew that our turn would come and they would not leave us in trouble. I want to thank AKHZ for their help. The plant has given us a hope for the future.”
Avdiivka Coke and Chemicals Plant has repaired 69 high-rise buildings. In 2015, Metinvest allocated UAH 18 million to repair residential houses, kindergartens, schools and other important facilities of Avdiivka.
