Being a major employer in Kurakhove, DTEK Kurakhovska TPP prevented a humanitarian disaster in 2014. In 2014-2015, DTEK Kurakhovska TPP provided 25,000 residents and IDPs with a backup water supply for more than 120 days in summer and almost 30 days in winter because Seversky Donets-Donbas water canal was damaged regularly. Also, the company delivered water across the town so that locals could access it round the clock. Employees of the plant collected money and clothes regularly to give aid to the displaced, particularly to help all the displaced children prepare for the school year by 1 September (contributions of the company and employees helped to buy them school uniforms, bags and stationery).
