DTEK Luhanska TPP has restored power unit No. 9 within less than two hours, having turned the electricity back on to residents living in the north of Luhansk Oblast.  As of 10:00 am, the station operated three power units generating 405 MW of electricity.

DTEK Luhanska TPP switched off one of three power units on 30 October 2015 at 6:28 am due to technical difficulties. As a result, some of Luhansk Oblast consumers were left without electricity.

DTEK power engineers responded immediately to restore normal operations and turned power unit No. 9 on at 7:53 am.

At 8:13 am, they started reconnecting power to homes cut off in Luhansk Oblast.  The station is currently  operating three power units generating 405 MW of electricity.

The power failures in Luhansk Oblast stem from the fact that DTEK Luhanska TPP has been operating as a power island for more than a year as it had been cut off from the national grid because of broken power transmission lines. Being the main source of electricity in the region, Luhanska TPP cannot receive power compensation from the national grid if any emergency shutdowns take place.
